Steps for Becoming a Certified Flight Instructor

Hold a valid Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate

Hold the appropriate category and class rating for the flight instructor rating to be sought.

Hold at least a 3rd Class Medical

Must be at least 18 years old

You must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language.

Log at least 15 hours as PIC in the category and class of aircraft that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought.

Demonstrate instructional proficiency in stall awareness, spin entry, spins, and spin recovery, and receive an endorsement.

Pass the required FAA Written Exam

Commercial Single Engine
